I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia. I integrate goal-directedness from my experience as a competitive athlete and creativity from my background in the performing arts to cultivate a motivating counselling experience. My passion for empowering individuals to achieve their personal and relationship goals could help you:
- Develop more satisfying intimate and interpersonal relationships
- Learn effective approaches to manage your anxiety and depression
- Understand your eating disorder and develop healthy ways of coping
- Improve your self-esteem and learn strategies to live a more meaningful life
- Work through painful losses and difficult challenges you may have experienced in your life
I have in-depth training and experience in Couples Therapy and Relationship Dynamics, including an internship in Emotion Focused Couples Therapy at the Vancouver Couple and Family Institute and multidisciplinary training regarding issues of sexual dissatisfaction and dysfunction. In addition, I have led marital workshops and conducted clinical research interviews with newlyweds on marital adjustment. I have helped many couples navigate the difficult and often painful experiences of affairs, sexual and intimacy challenges, and communication conflicts.
For the past 10 years, I have been working in the areas of disordered eating and body image, including: facilitating groups, workshops, and individual therapy and have received clinical training through Remuda Ranch, a highly recognized treatment facility in the US. I understand that there are often many layers to this struggle and my approach provides a safe and compassionate environment to work towards long lasting recovery.
Throughout my career, I have been recognized as a highly trained scholar and skilled therapist. I have been selected for honors including the BC Premier's Award of Excellence, Simon Fraser University's Best All Around Graduate, and a finalist for Vancouver's YWCA Women of Distinction Award. My approach to creating individual and interpersonal change is based on a standard of excellence in training and an excitement for helping you reach your potential
