I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor holding an undergraduate degree (Faculty Scholar Distinction) in Clinical Social Work from McGill University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia.
In my 25 years of being a therapist and counsellor, I have held a number of positions, including: studying and teaching at the Justice Institute of B.C. in the Conflict Resolution Program, successfully mediating custody and access disputes for the Attorney General and developing and implementing the first "Parenting After Separation" psycho-educational workshop for the Province. This workshop quickly expanded to fifty communities in B.C. and continues to be successful. I have also facilitated many workshops on Stress Management, Coping with Change and Parenting for many and varied types of companies and organizations.
I have a particular interest in couples work, and draw primarily from the well-researched models of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Integrative Body Psychotherapy to help couples:
- Create an intimate and lasting loving relationship
- Resolve conflicts and improve communication
- Navigate the challenges of parenting
- Mediate an amicable separation
- Repair trust after an affair or betrayal
From my many years as a counsellor at Canadian Airlines, Wilson Banwell & Associates, and Telus, I became well versed in the challenges of working in a corporate environment.
