M.Ed., REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELOR
As a counsellor I bring a straightforwardness, a deep sense of compassion, and sense of humour to my work. I see my clients as whole, unique, and good people, who are fully capable of finding a positive way through challenges. It is important to me that you feel cared for, respected, and comfortable to be your authentic self.
From our first session, my aim is for you to start feeling better, become more self-aware, and have more tools to cope. The safety of our counselling relationship sets the stage for the deeper work of therapy that can be healing or even transformational. As a counsellor, I have a dual focus on depth work, while addressing the practicalities of short-term goals and life demands.
We will build a warm and collaborative counselling relationship to explore and resolve your issues, focusing on possibilities, not only problems. The counselling process may help you to:
- Realize your strengths and draw on them when you need them
- Find clarity and insight about the roots of issues
- Raise self-esteem and feel more confident in your decision making
- Learn how to feel and be with your emotions in a healthier way
- Experience more love, connection, peace, and joy in your life
I have sought extended training in Mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Satir transformational systemic therapy. I am passionate about helping you feel better in a lasting, meaningful way.
Having lived in several countries and grown up across cultures, I also love working with clients to help work through family or personal issues that involve cultural considerations. My other languages include Urdu, Hindi, Gujrati and French.
A music and art lover, I also serve as a board member with several local non-profits focused around bringing world music and dance to audiences in Vancouver. I love the joy that sharing music, dance and the arts brings to our communities. I have also been a practitioner of mindful meditation and ashtanga yoga for 15 years.
