Sharon Zack
I am a Registered Clinical Counselor with a Master’s degree in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University (specializing in mental health), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Gender Studies from Tel-Aviv University. I offer therapy in person and virtually in English and in Hebrew.
Over the past 10 years I have worked in mental health facilities and private practice; working extensively with: anxiety, eating disorders, body image concerns, self-esteem, developmental trauma, sexual abuse, PTSD, parenting, and gender and sexuality issues.
Our personal experiences vary in terms of time, culture, gender, society, experiences of immigration/war or other global and local events. We can explore how these factors interplay with our vulnerabilities and strengths, with our habits and ways of thinking. I am sensitive to the effects of disparities, inequalities, discrimination and power-relations on individuals and families, inter-generationally and otherwise.
I believe that a good therapeutic relationship is at the core of a fruitful therapeutic process. It is the safe ground upon which we can hold together trauma and pain, and slowly facilitate movement and transformation.
I am especially experienced working with trauma, and helping clients:
- learn tools and strategies to better cope with stress and anxiety
- work on recovery from all types of disordered eating, including: bulimia, anorexia, ARFID, emotional overeating and binge eating disorder
- receive family therapy to learn how to better support a loved one struggling with an eating disorder
- begin to heal from a painful past; including trauma and abuse
- receive guidance on their parenting journey
- explore conflicts and concerns around gender and sexuality
