Tess Wilton

MCP, Registered Clinical Counsellor

Do you miss the days when you felt more at ease and connected to your partner? Are you disappointed that sometimes it’s so hard to just get along and enjoy each other’s company? Has parenting had a negative impact on your relationship?

As a mother, wife and Gottman trained and EFT couples counselor, I am here to help couples heal from past hurts (including infidelity), learn to truly hear and understand each other and reconnect in a meaningful way.

Having lived in Canada most of my life, I spent my elementary school years in Barbados, where I experienced loneliness, anxiety, and low self-esteem, along with the fear of not fitting in. My family’s history of mental health disorders has given me intimate insight into what it’s like to live with and support a loved one with Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, alcohol use, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

I use a strength-based empowerment style approach that is firm but nurturing. I am very direct and don’t “sugar-coat”.

I am particularly skilled at helping with:

  • couples therapy and infidelity
  • commitment and vulnerability concerns
  • calming worries and anxious thoughts
  • increasing self-esteem and self worth
  • overcoming people pleasing
  • resolving relationship conflicts and communication breakdowns
  • healing from past trauma
  • enforcing healthy boundaries
  • learning how to take care of oneself while in relationship with someone who has major mental health concerns
